The “R8” refers to the collet’s taper size, which is commonly found on milling machines. 

R8 collets have a keyway to prevent rotation when removing or fitting, but the compressed taper is what provides the driving force. 

Collets are held by the draw bar and can be automated with an air-powered draw bar.
